Andy LaPlegua (født Ole-Anders Olsen 15. september 1975 i Fredrikstad) er en norsk musiker opprinnelig kjent for å være grunnlegger og vokalist i futurepopbandet Icon of Coil.^[2] LaPlegua har også oppnådd berømmelse innen musikkgenrene hellektro og elektroindustri som grunnlegger av og vokalist i Combichrist og Panzer AG.

Biografi

Både Icon of Coil og Combichrist har toppet Deutsche Alternative Charts.

Etter dødsfallet til Prince opplyste Andy at den største musikalske innflytelse under oppveksten i begynnelsen av 1980-tallet var Bowie, Motörhead, Prince, The Cure og Dead Kennedys.^[3]

LaPlegua var opprinnelig en del av en rekke musikalske miljøer i Norge hvor han eksperimenterte med hip-hop i Detroit Techno/Old School band LAW, industriell i Devils i Devils Into Crime (DIC), punk i My Right Choice (MRC)/Fleshfire og metall i Lash Out.^[4] Han har også funnet interesse i trance og klubbmusikk ved å sette sitt preg på generen med sitt engasjement i band Plastic Life og Sector9.

Tidlig i sin karriere var han vokalist i det Fredrikstad-baserte hardcore/metal-bandet My Right Choice - som har gitt ut en EP under navnet Fleshfire, så vel som stand-in (og senere permanent) vokalist for Lash Out. Icon of Coil ble dannet som et solo-prosjekt i 1997. Etter å ha blitt svært begeistret for musikken og dens muligheter inviterte LaPlegua en tidligere bandvenn av seg, Sebastian Komor, til å bli med i Icon of Coil på liveopptredener. Etter flere offentlige forestillinger og utgivelsen av Shallow Nation, IoCs første album, ble Komor med i bandet på fulltid.

Combichrist ble offisielt lansert i 2003. Det ble opprettet som et alternativ til det mer aggressive Icon of Coil. Panzer AG ble offisielt lansert i 2004. LaPlegua kombinerte dansabiliteten til Icon of Coil med de hardtslående rytmene til Combichrist da han skapte Panzer AG. Hans fjerde, mest techno-orientert prosjekt, er (DJ) Scandy. Hans nye prosjekt, Scandinavian Cock, er en rockabilly/psychobilly-fremføring.^[5]^[6]
