Advanced Weapons and Equipment India

Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWE) is an Indian defence Public Sector Undertaking, headquartered in Kanpur, India.^[1] AWE primarily manufactures Small arms and artillery guns for the Indian Armed Forces, foreign militaries, and domestic civilian use.

AWE was established in 2021 as part of the restructuring and corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board,^[2] which was devided into seven different Public Sector Undertakings.^[3][4][5]

AWE consists of the following factories of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board:^[6]

AWE has an ownership stake in Indo-Russia Rifles alongside Kalashnikov Concern and Rosoboronexport.^[7]

OFIL Ishapore is the training institute under the Advance Weapon & Equipments India Ltd., a Government of India enterprise under ministry of Defence. The institute is engaged in imparting and upgrading technical, and managerial skills. The institute was established in 1920 under Lt. Col. L. De Lenfestey, then Superintendent of the Rifle Factory, Ishapore, during British rule. It has held a prominent position within the Ordnance Factories and the industry, known for the quality of its training and the success of its alumni, many of whom have attained high positions in government and the corporate sector.

OFIL Ishapore received the prestigious Golden Peacock National Training Award from the Institute of Directors in 1997 and 2005, and was the runner-up in 2002.

OFIL Ishapore has hostel facilities for officials and participants, with both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned rooms that can accommodate up to 116 people. It also includes some recreational facilities for indoor and outdoor sports.
