The 1940 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs football team was an American football team that represented the Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now known as Louisiana Tech University) as a member of the Louisiana Intercollegiate Conference during the 1940 college football season. In their first year under head coach Joe Aillet, the team compiled a 6–4 record.

Louisiana Tech was ranked at No. 148 (out of 697 college football teams) in the final rankings under the Litkenhous Difference by Score system for 1940.[1]
